San Antonio, Here We Come!
‘It’s deja vu all over again’
– Yogi Berra
It’s that time again this year. In less than 30 days, we will be in the wonderful city of San Antonio for the 66th THCA Annual Convention and Trade Show. This year, in addition to continuing education for Administrators, Assisted Living Managers, Nurses and Social Workers, we’ve also applied for continuing education credits for physicians, physician extenders and CPAs. To follow on from last year’s successful Tuesday casino and live band, we’ll be hosting Casino Roy’all this year w/ live music, cards and dice for the most avid or beginner players. With over 165 outstanding business members participating in the Trade Show, multiple educational tracks, and national keynote speakers, and hundreds of providers from across the state, we looked forward to demonstrating “Strength in Unity”, at this year’s Convention.
On a more immediate front, this past week, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services release their 700+ page final rule on Requirements for Participation. Representing the first updates to the requirements for participation in 25 years, there are multiple changes and expectations set forth in the updating requirements affecting all nursing home providers. AHCA will be holding two briefings for members on the new requirements this week (Monday, October 3rd and Wednesday, October 5th) so be sure to register for one of these briefings. AHCA staff are also developing brief overview documents about the elements of the rule, beginning with the provisions that are going to be implemented in phase one. These will be made available as they are finalized.
We look forward to seeing all of you in San Antonio, and thank you for what you do for the communities you serve!
Onward and Upward!
