The Texas Senate approved legislation on Friday that would create a permanent council to examine issues faced by long term care providers.
SB 1519 by Senator Lois Kolkhorst directs a commission of stakeholders and HHSC officials to examine issues of consistency in the survey and informal dispute resolution (IDR) process. The council will also be charged with quality based payment systems and rate-setting methodology.
The council is similar to one set up in 2015 but that panel expired before the next session. This will have a broader scope and be ongoing.
The bill will be carried in the House by Rep. Travis Clardy.
