“Real generosity toward the future lies in giving all to the present.” Albert Camus

Summer is officially upon us. Kids are out of school, traffic patterns have temporarily changed for the better and the reminder of living for the moment and giving of our time to family is ever-present.  As we work every day to implement strategies and approaches to managing competing priorities between our personal and professional responsibilities, we must strive to ensure that when we do give of our time, we should go big!

When we “go big”, we place our focus and energy into the responsibility that is in front of us at the moment, and avoid the distractions that take away from our ability to give the best we have to offer. As leaders of your facilities, regions, and organizations, you have demands placed upon you to plan effectively for the future, while ensuring you’re investing enough time in the present.  You listen to the input that surrounds you, you seek out additional input when necessary and you make decisions accordingly.

All of this is a long way of saying that as you balance your responsibilities over the summer months between professional obligations and family expectations, remember to stay in the moment. Your time and talents are being counted on by many, so go big!   Make everyone who demands of your attention feel as though they’re the most important person in the room.  The benefits could turn out to be way more than we realize.

Look forward to seeing all of you next week in Bastrop. Thank you for all you do for those you serve.

Onward and Upward
