THCA members lobby legislators for long term care

The halls and offices of the Texas Capitol were the site of frequent visits from THCA members last month as the legislative session reached its halfway point.

About 70 nurses from around the state visited the Capitol on March 26 to discuss how increased funding can help improve staff recruitment and retention. They were introduced in the Texas House by Rep. Stephanie Klick (R-Fort Worth), who is also a nurse. Klick later addressed the nurses and thanked them for their hard work and dedication.

On March 31, members of the Texas Coalition for Long Term Care Businesses (TCLTCB) had their lobby day at the Capitol. They educated members and staff on the positive impact that fully funding the Medicaid rate for nursing homes would have on the Texas economy.

In addition, representatives of Senior Care Centers, HMG Healthcare, Nexion Health, Touchstone Communities, Genesis Healthcare, Southwest Long Term Care, and Cedar Lake Nursing Home all visited with legislators in Austin during the month of March.
