Texas Controlled Substances Registration — DPS licenses/Certificates for nursing facilities

DPS has Implemented Senate Bill 195 of the 84th Legislative Session. Effective September 1, 2016, the Texas Department of Public Safety discontinued accepting applications for the Texas Controlled Substances Registration under Chapter 481.061 of the Health and Safety Code. DPS Licenses/certificates are no longer required for nursing homes EXCEPT in the case where the home as an automated dispensing cabinet.
