INVITE YOUR LEGISLATORS OVER FOR VETERANS DAY

With Veterans Day (Nov. 11) just a few weeks away, many nursing facilities will soon get out their flags, print out their certificates, and get ready to honor their residents who served in the armed forces.

It is a time that many facilities invite their state legislators to visit their buildings and help with their commemoration.

Legislators love the opportunity to emcee a ceremony, speak in honor of veterans, and thank them personally for the sacrifices they made for their country.

Residents and family members love meeting their local legislators. It makes them feel special that their leaders would pay them a visit.

And the visit brings legislators face-to-face with those who most need them to support quality long term care.

If you would like your legislator to attend your facility’s Veterans Day events, now is the time to get your invitation out.

To find out which legislator represents your facility and to see their contact information, go to this link.
Then, follow these steps:

1. Call the office and ask for the name and e-mail address of the scheduler.
2. Send an e-mail to the scheduler with details.
3. Follow up with a phone call to the scheduler.

If you have any questions, please call Scot Kibbe, THCA Director of Government Relations, at 512-458-1257 or e-mail him at skibbe@txhca.org.

Staff of Heritage House of Keller, an Advanced Healthcare Services facility, attended an event on September 17 in support of their legislator, Rep. Giovanni Capriglione. Local events like this one are a great way to stay in touch with those who represent you.
