TEXAS PROVIDERS AND BUSINESS MEMBERS CALL ON CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION

THCA members hit the U.S. Capitol on June 3 and 4, visiting with their congress members as part of AHCA’s annual Congressional Briefing.

Members received a briefing from AHCA leadership before going out to meet with their representatives. Among the issues they discussed was the need for funding and regulatory relief, changing the rule on observation stays, and allowing providers to benefit from recently enacted tax cuts.

THCA members met with Congressman Van Taylor, Congressman Henry Cuellar, Congressman Michael Burgess, Congressman Kevin Brady and Congressman Dan Crenshaw. They also met with key staff to several other members of the delegation.

It was especially important for THCA members to make these visits this year. Ten members of the 36 who represent Texas are serving their first term, including Taylor and Crenshaw. That is an unusually high number and the Congressional Briefing gave THCA members a chance to educate these freshmen on long term care issues.
