THCA Joins Events for Texas CongressmenTHCA and AHCA leadership and members kicked off the first day of their recent convention with a luncheon for Texas congressman Dr. Michael Burgess (R-Flower Mound). Dr. Burgess is a member of the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee, which helps set the federal government’s health policies. He is an obstetrician who was first elected to Congress in 2002. The chairman of that committee, Congressman Fred Upton, also attended the luncheon. The two lawmakers gave members their insights on issues before Congress that affect health care and the political climate entering the 2016 election year. In addition, several THCA members attended a reception for Congressman Kevin Brady (R-The Woodlands) hosted by HMG Healthcare at Park Manor of The Woodlands. Brady is the Chairman of the subcommittee on Health of the House Ways and Means Committee. He has been active on long term care issues and discussed those issues with attendees during a Q&A session at the reception. |
