New CMS Assessment Submission Timeframe

Reminder on the New CMS Assessment Submission Timeframe

This is a reminder that effective October 1, 2019, CMS reduced the policy for submission of resident assessment records from up to 36 months down to 24 months. This means nursing homes and swing bed facilities will only be able to submit a record in MDS with an ARD or target date up to 24 months prior to the current date beginning October 1. This applies to all record types, including new, modified, and inactivated records. Facilities may want to review their CASPER Missing Assessment and Roster reports to ensure any missing records or needed modifications for any records older than 24 months are transmitted prior to October 1^st.

Final v3.00.1 MDS 3.0 Data Specifications

CMS has posted v3.00.1 of the MDS 3.0 Data Specifications scheduled to become effective October 1, 2019 on their CMS MDS 3.0 Technical Information website in the Downloads section. They have also posted a related file of allowed PDPM ICD codes for item I0020B effective that same day.
