As we begin another year, we all look for opportunities to make a difference. Whether it be in our professional or personal lives, we “commit” to a new year’s resolution or seek out new ways to get involved and create positive changes. Often, our expertise or abilities are sought out by others, looking to address a need and make a difference in their own right.

As you all pursue your goals and commitments for 2018, I want to encourage you to add the Texas Health Care Association–your association–to your list of those items in your life that you commit to influencing and impacting.

Our opportunity is to work with you to identify solutions and paths to help you be successful in taking care of the residents, families and staff that you commit to on a daily basis. With your influence and involvement in 2018, our focus is on:

  • Developing a long term funding solution to increase Medicaid reimbursement and reward providers for providing higher quality care.
  • Working actively with AHCA leadership to address regulatory concerns with CMS Leadership related to Immediate Jeopardy citations
  • Developing solutions to address the ongoing issues and concerns from Medicaid managed care.
  • Improving the consistency of the survey process, reduce regulatory burden, and the cost of regulatory compliance.
  • Providing “Just in time” education and training programs to help you successfully manage the regulatory and clinical responsibilities you work manage daily for the communities you serve.

Your support, involvement, idea generation and voice are critical factors to a successful 2018. Each of  you represents the front line and hands on professional that we are privileged to serve on a daily basis.  Your voice, your representation and your success is what matters to elected officials, local and state leadership and the tens of thousands of elderly you care for every day.

As Dr. Seuss said, “You’ll move mountains! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So get on your way!”
