Thomas Hamilton Announced Retirement from CMSAfter 42 years of public service at the local, state, and federal levels, Thomas Hamilton, the director of the Survey and Certification Group within the Center for Medicaid and State Operations at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), has announced his decision to retire effective April 30, 2016. Mr. Hamilton’s Survey and Certification Group is responsible for quality assurance for more than 100,000 providers that participate in the Medicare and Medicaid programs, including hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, rural health clinics, home health agencies, hospices, dialysis facilities, clinical laboratories, and nursing homes. CMS has already begun the succession planning for this Senior Executive Service (SES) position, including receiving permission from Health and Human Services (HHS) and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to retain the SES position for survey & certification, followed by competitive posting of the position, vetting the candidates, making a selection, and then justifying the selection to HHS and OPM. |
