September Brings New Laws in TexasThe 84th Session of the Texas Legislature ended in May but many actions taken during that session are just now being felt. September 1 marked the effective date of nearly 700 new state laws. The Legislature often delays the implementation of bills to September so that those affected can prepare and state agencies can write corresponding rules, if necessary. Among the changes affecting providers on September 1:
In addition, the $209 billion biennial state budget kicked in on September 1. It will continue until September of 2017 when the budget passed by the next Legislature takes effect. |
