State Budget Moves to Conference Committee

The ten legislators who will write the final budget were named last week to set in motion a busy final six weeks of the 84th Legislative Session.

The members of the Conference Committee on House Bill 1 were named by the presiding officer in each chamber—House Speaker Joe Straus and Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick.

Considered to be one of the most coveted assignments at the Capitol, conferees will begin meeting this week to reconcile the differences between the budgets passed in the two chambers. They are also expected to take up issues the budgets did not address, such as provider rates.

The members of the Conference Committee are:
